It's Nice Out is built around a simple idea: tell you whether it's nice out, and don't be creepy about it. We don't run ads (other than honest affiliate links on the free tier), we don't sell data, and we don't have user accounts. Most of what the app does happens entirely on your device.
Your saved locations, settings, activity preferences, and weather history live on your iPhone (and sync to your other devices through your personal iCloud account). We don't have a copy.
Your location is used to fetch the forecast. We send coordinates to Apple's WeatherKit to retrieve weather data. We don't store, log, or share your location.
Two small things, both anonymous:
Crash and performance data. If a crash or slowdown happens, iOS sends us an anonymized report (no name, no Apple ID) so we can fix it. You can disable this in iOS Settings → Privacy → Analytics → Share With App Developers.
Anonymous usage events. Things like "app launched," "paywall shown," "purchase completed." We use these to understand whether the app works as intended and whether what we build people actually use. Each event includes a rotating, anonymous ID that changes every two weeks — after rotation, even we cannot connect older data to newer data from the same install. No name, email, location, Apple ID, or device identifier. Old data is automatically deleted after 90 days.
You can disable this in Settings → Privacy → Share Usage Data in the app.
Purchases go through Apple — we never see your payment information. TestFlight feedback goes through Apple. iCloud sync happens between you and Apple. We have no access to any of it.
The free version may display affiliate links to travel and shopping services. If you make a purchase through one, we may earn a small commission at no extra cost to you. Pro subscribers can disable affiliate links entirely in Settings.
Occasional requests to our website for configuration or updates may appear in our hosting provider's server access logs (typically including IP addresses). We do not retain or analyze these logs.
The opt-out toggle described above stops further data collection. If you have identified yourself in TestFlight feedback or by sharing your install ID (visible in the app's Debug Menu) and want that specific data removed, contact us.
Deleting the app removes everything on your device. Anything held on our side is already anonymous, auto-deletes within 90 days, and becomes unlinkable to your current install after the two-week ID rotation.
For data rights under GDPR, CCPA, or similar laws, contact us and we will respond promptly. Because we do not collect personal data that identifies you, most rights (correction, access, portability) are not applicable — there is no profile to correct.
The app does not knowingly collect information from anyone, including children.
